We love weekends! Since we got married and moved in to our own place, staying at home has been more exciting than before. Last weekend, we felt like it was a good time to create something in the kitchen. To make it more exciting, O and I decided to play a little in the kitchen by experimenting with a dessert recipe using our favorite ingredient: ice cream!

We chose to shop at Landers that time to search for ingredients and buy other things for the home. I love that there are many high quality products and great organic selections in Landers. Just like the ice cream brand Cool Haus, which has the Real California Milk seal.

What’s the deal with the seal?

Knowing where your food comes from is a big deal. When you see the “Real California Milk” seal, you are assured that the product is certified that is made with 100% Real California Milk from real California Dairy families.

California Milk Advisory Board (CMAB), an instrumentality of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, is one of the leading agricultural marketing boards in the US comprised of the dairy farm families in the state. CMAB exists to spread the word about the extraordinary dairy products made with Real California Milk.

With the way people believe in eating better, healthier and simpler, it is important to choose products that are not overly processed. Real food made by real families is what California Milk is all about.

Cool Haus is a brand certified with the Real California Milk seal. There are so many flavors to choose from for both ice cream pints and ice cream cookie sandwiches! For ice cream lovers like me and O, who can’t sleep without a bowl of ice cream, it wasn’t easy to walk away too fast. Hence, we just hoarded them all! Haha!

Trio Ice Cream Burger Recipe:

We both missed our childhood days when we get to eat ice cream on a bun from manong sorbetero. Back during those days, I don’t think we understood what quality was. Haha! So to elevate this recipe, we made use of high quality ice cream including unique ingredients, and called this Trio Ice Cream Burger. Also, as we came up with the recipe, we narrowed down to choosing three ice cream flavors only.

Ingredients:

Cool Haus Ice Cream – Salty S’mores, Salted Caramel & Chocolate Molten Cake
Burger Buns
Dried Mangoes
Strawberry Jam
Pork Chicharon

Procedure:

  1. On a tray, prepare 3 burger buns and open it in half.
  2. Slice the different kinds of ice cream pint as thick as 2 inches or more making it as the burger ‘patty’ and place on the 2nd half of the buns.
  3. Add the toppings for every flavor. Strawberry jam for Salty S’mores; Dried mangoes for Chocolate Molten Cake; and Pork chicharon for Salted Caramel.
  4. Ready to serve

Presenting, our playful Trio Ice Cream Burger!

Let’s start from the left. Salty S’mores already tastes fantastic on its own. But adding the flavor strawberry in between the buns change the flavor profile for a more exciting piece of dessert. Sweet, sour and a little salty.

We all know dark chocolate tastes sophisticated with mangoes. A favorite among all three, this Chocolate Molten Cake ice cream perfects the whole experience of eating a chocolate ice cream and is even made more special with bits of dried mangoes in between its savory buns.

Lastly, this was O’s idea, to mix up Salted Caramel Ice Cream with his favorite salty pork chicharon. I initially thought this crazy idea won’t work. Surprisingly, the taste notes and the crunch of the salty chicharon complemented the saltiness of the ice cream.

If you were to make your own recipe, whatever that is, make sure to use high quality ingredients. For your family, you don’t want to risk it. One practice is to choose your dairy with the seal. Go for wholesome dairy and choose products made with Real California Milk.
