Food carries the heaviest baggage of my purpose for travelling. On top of seeing the world from my perspective, I have the appetite to taste what every country offers.
Weeks ago, my food scouting journey brought me to one of the USA’s Micronesia island and that is Guam. Only 4 hours away from Manila, it’s not a surprise to meet fellow Filipinos working in retail stores and restaurant.
On my first day, Guam Visitors Bureau brought me, together with other delegates from the media, to Lone Star Steakhouse. From our hotel, Pacific Star Resort & Spa, it didn’t take more than 10 minutes. Just so you know, traffic is not a problem in Guam. The relaxed culture of wide and big roads with happy few citizens populate the entire island.
Anyway, back to Lone Star Steakhouse. The rodeo restaurant was semi-packed for lunch. Its location, being near Guam Premier Outlets, looks to be an ideal spot for lunch before heading to your outlet shopping marathon.

The Food:

Free Bread & Butter
Best thing in Lone Star Steakhouse is for free! From my first encounter with Lone Star’s soft maple bread and butter, I developed an instant infatuation that I couldn’t stop easily. I looked around me and sensed similar reactions after their first bite. Sorry burgers and steaks, I choose this hot maple-covered bread with butter over you guys. Haha!
Willie Burger (USD 11.99)
Rate: 5/5
I tamed myself from overeating on the first day but Willie Burger pulled me to consume more than I planned to. Melted Jack cheese on tender beef burger patty with long strips of bacon teased me from the very beginning.
Crispy onion rings on the side added texture to the whole piece. As expected, every crumb caressed my hungry belly.
Texas Ribeye 14oz. (USD 35.49)
Rate: 4/5
On my next plate, the most flavorful steak of Lone Star Steakhouse – Texas Ribeye. Medium-cooked steak, my usual preference, brought out the man-eater in me. Haha! Look at that thick-cut fries with it, isn’t it appetizing to munch as well? Yum!
Baby Back Ribs (USD 12.99)
Rate: 4/5
Don’t think it’s too short and stout for its price. That’s only 1/3 of the whole Baby Back Ribs in one plate. Also a favorite at Lone Star Steakhouse!

The Ambiance:

Rodeo songs flashing in my head while walking around the cowboy-themed steakhouse. Any time of the day, it didn’t matter for beer mug drinkers to sit by the bar and say cheers to the sweet day in Guam. By observing the locals in Guam, I could see through how sweet, simple and relaxed life is in a laid-back country.
Groups of family and friends are usual customers of Lone Star Steakhouse. The typical top of mind venue for those who want to grab real and tasty Texas burgers and steak.
We didn’t have any problems with their customer service despite the busy room during lunch. Some of their staff are Filipinos too! It really felt like home meeting Filipinos living a good life in another country.
