The road to a healthy lifestyle is a choice, a choice only YOU can make.
Salad Stop, a franchise from Singapore, is finally in Manila to spread the movement that believes it is a basic human right to truly eat well. By eating well, it means knowing where your food came from and understanding the importance of eating healthy and wholesome meals. Admit it, our culture in the metro is not deeply rooted in choosing the green side over the red meat side. My dad used to pour over a scoop of vegetables on my plate and semi-force me to finish it all up, all for my own good. I used to grumble. It took years before I understood the consequences of eating and not eating my greens.
Salad Stop came in the picture, along the new section of Bonifacio High Street, at Central Square. Philippines is the first international franchise of the fast growing food & beverage brand.

The Ambiance:

As I entered the clean green room, I noticed most of its customers are foreigners. Few tables were occupied by Filipinos, oh and that was us.
For me, it feels like a Jamba Juice of salad lovers. Customers could choose from a wide range of Signature salad and wraps. Or, create-your-own if you don’t think the choices on the menu isn’t exactly what you’re looking for. Conscious eaters will be happy to know every dish has a corresponding calorie value displayed on the menu board.
Every corner in this room lives and breathes ‘healthy.’ Snacks ready to pick up are innovated to be appealing to the tongue. One of the chips available on the rack is my favorite Kale Chips from Take Root.

The Food:

Omega 3 Baby (Php 350)
Rate: 5/5
A salad bowl of 519 calories. Just a quick realization, salad bowls could be healthy but yes, high in calories too. Omega 3 Baby is a party of fresh ingredients – rocket and romaine, smoked salmon, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, beetroot, red onions, sunflower seeds and Balsamic Soy Vinaigrette, the element that made this bowl lovable.
Man, they’re quite generous considering the reasonable price of one salad bowl.
Big Bird (Php 350)
Rate: 4/5
While I was busy with my own bowl, O had Big Bird salad, which has lesser calories than my order – only 445 calories. Romaine, smoked turkey, avocado, green apple, celery, red grapes all soaked in ranch dressing. All mashed and jammed in creamier dressing, I thought it was heavier to bulk up with this bowl compared to Omega 3. I really thought my bones will long for more food after indulging with salad alone. I was completely wrong and I honestly felt stuffed, that I thought my body was ready to eat after the next 3 hours.
