I thought I’ve mastered my city. I thought I’ve memorized the old and new restaurants all around me.  Until one Sunday, I passed by the other side of town and discovered The Sweet Studio along Santolan road.
The Sweet Studio is owned by two gentle and sweet ladies, Ada Maxine Chua and Aby Chua. Ada used to intern for Grand Hyatt Hotel and Carlton Hotel in Singapore. And gained more experience from her full-time job at Hamilton Island Australia, Spoon Cafe and The Rare Pear in Brisbane Australia. Aby, on the other hand, is an advertising expert for 10 years. Sisters-in-law Ada and Aby share their love for desserts in their little studio of desserts.

The Food:

OMGreen Tea Cake (Php 80/slice)
Rate: 4/5
Threw myself in for that OMGreen Tea. O thought the name of the dessert is so ‘me’ – mixing my girly “OMG!” expression and my loyalty to green tea. Velvety smooth white chocolate cake with a mix of matcha green tea and ground almonds. A tad of sweetness in every part of the green cake.
Mud Mad Cake (Php 125/slice)
Rate: 3/5
A slice of sightly moist dense cake, whipped cream and bittersweet chocolate ganache. This bed of Mud Mad cake needed a hot bitter coffee on the side.

Hot Chocolate
Excuse me, I need a break and sit still with this Hot Chocolate.
Sea Salt Caramel Brownie
Rate: 4/5
It’s either you want it cooled from the fridge or choose your Sea Salt Caramel Brownie heated from the oven while watching that caramel dripping down. I tried both and settled for the hotter side. Baked chocolate brownie, caramel, toasted pecans with cream cheese and sea salt may be all you need at The Sweet Studio.
Pineapple Butter Cake
Rate: 4/5
Whip up a slice of Pineapple Butter Cake if you want a light-hearted snack. Moist butter cake made more appealing with its pineapple chunks in the bottom layer.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich (Php 180)
Rate: 4/5
Inspired by one of the best foodie movies of this century, Chef, this 4-cheese grilled sandwich can slowly awaken a dull afternoon. A side of bacon potato salad takes credits for that too.

I heard their baked pies – chicken and tuna pie – are also worth checking out! I’ll ‘pie-nd’ that out when I go back. 😉

How do we define this parade of sweets? Let’s just EAT!

The Ambiance:

The chic rustic displays feed the beauty of the small sweet studio. We borrowed props from the display stand of random kitchen items.
Ada’s cake wall of fame showcases her previous customized cake designs. Mostly photos of fondant cakes for big occasions like birthday parties and weddings. For your upcoming parties, you can inquire at The Sweet Studio to get Ada’s customized cake services.
The Sweet Studio is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant along Santolan road. And yes, I also found a hole in the wall. (You’ll get it when you find it!)
