Previously on my Boracay blog post, I mentioned that our last stop was a relaxing sunset watching at Jony’s. We haven’t done any activities yet, the day was basically all about relaxing and eating. Here at our next stop, it’s not a surprise that our next activity is this….eating again!
Boracay Mandarin Island Hotel was really generous to prepare our dinner, located at the beachfront. From Jony’s to the hotel, we walked for about 5-10 minutes. From afar, we noticed we were already near the hotel because of its attractive Christmas lights design. Caught tourists taking a photo outside our hotel even though they weren’t checked in there.
This was the set-up outside Boracay Mandarin Island Hotel. Round tables with four chairs each and a stage in front where the live band performs.
As we arrived, our round table was still empty. Then just after a few minutes, they put down one by one plates with our favorite seafoods. This is what you call, seafood night by the beach.
Rock Oyster Supremo (Php 305) – The only way I want my oysters to be cooked is this way. Baked oysters with overflowing cheese that melts as you take a bite. Baked oysters they served was exactly how I imagined it to be. Its cheese on top was a little bit flat and firm but when you eat it as a whole the cheese was melted inside.
Golden Calamare Fritos (Php 220) – The squid was battered and fried to make it crunchy as we munched. Their calamares was favorable to my taste. It wasn’t oily nor thickened with flour. Squid they used tasted fresh and chunky.
Fried Lobster with Butter Garlic Sauce (Php 2495) – I didn’t expect they would serve us lobsters. This came to a surprise to me the minute they held the plate of fried lobsters and placed on top of our table. Similar to how their calamares was cooked, the lobsters was also battered and fried to make it crunchy. The difference was that the lobsters had butter garlic sauce to add more flavor. The only comment I have is that it would be easier for the cook to just steam the lobsters and serve us butter garlic sauce that slice and fry them all up.
Lapu-Lapu Sweet & Sour Fish (Php 1050) – Sweet & sour sauce for me is always related to chinese food. Freshly caught lapu-lapu was flavored with sweet & sour sauce sliced red bell peppers on top. I felt I was in a Chinese restaurant while having this flavored Lapu-Lapu fish.
The cook grills the seafood right beside the place where you eat. You can choose your seafood, just like dampa style, as they grill and cook it for you.
What made the night better was the music that serenaded us while having our seafood dinner. Eating with friends is already a fantastic idea but as you add on music to your ears, it completes the set-up. It simply sets the mood as you relax and chill with your group. (On the photo: Medyo emo lang si kuya na nasa left side. haha! As far as I can remember, puro love songs that night.)
Fireworks at the beach made the night gorgeous! My friends and I watched the fireworks together in the middle of our dinner. The view merely stunned us!
First night at Boracay defines the word “relaxing”. God knows I needed rest and He provided me with this kind of rest. What a blessing it is to be in this island with great food and great company.
Sending my big love to Boracay Mandarin Island Hotel for this gastronomic seafood night! 🙂 Once again, Thank You to the crew and everyone else who treated us like kings and queens at the hotel!
(Stay tuned for the next part of my Boracay trip!)
Pray, Eat and Love.
