It’s our last anniversary in the month of February as boyfriend-girlfriend! Indeed, time flies so fast. 🙂 I’m a lady who will never lose the fire for surprises. If there’s another love language to add, that’s my love for surprises. O knows that very well. So for our 3rd anniversary last month, I let O surprise me where to take me for dinner.
He picked me up in the afternoon, after both of us hurriedly finished our work. Since I don’t know where exactly he’d take me, I had to double check with him on what I should wear. He asked me to wear a dress. So I figured, we’d be eating in a fine place. When he arrived my house, he seemed worried about the time. Then, while in the car along Ortigas, he told me we were almost late. Fast forward to where he brought me, we went to SM Megamall and watched Deadpool at The Director’s Club, with free popcorn and beverages. Yipeeeeee! We both love superhero movies that we can’t wait long for the downloads to come out. Both hungry after watching Deadpool, we proceeded to his plan to take me to The Fireplace at New World Manila Bay Hotel, the old Hyatt Hotel.
The Fireplace is a go-to place for gorgeous steaks. Let me say that again, STEAK – my weakness! I’m a carnivore and steak romances me all the time. At The Fireplace, you just gotta include at least one plate of steak on your order list, which is exactly what we did.

The Food:

Hooray for complimentary bread! Don’t you love restaurants that provide appetizers while you wait for your orders? Steak restaurants like The Fireplace are well-loved for their customer service.
Rib-eye Steak (Php 2,950)
Rate: 5/5

As expected, we ordered 12 oz. certified angus beef Rib-eye Steak. The simplicity of properly grilled medium rib-eye steak melted my heart with the feeling of contentment in one dish alone. I didn’t long for other dishes anymore. It was divine and romantic, just like the occasion we were celebrating.

Chilean Sea Bass (Php 1,750)
Rate: 4.5/5

To add variety, I was compelled to choose another dish, Chilean Sea Bass. Hehe. Honestly, if you are happy with steak alone, it isn’t necessary to order another main dish. I still don’t regret trying the Chilean Sea Bass with extra juicy core that’s terrific! Glad we added this on our order list.

Hot Chocolate Soup (Php 370)
Rate: 4/5
Following the traditional way of dining, ending with a dessert in other words, O and I shared a bowl of Hot Chocolate Soup. The vanilla ice cream scoop melted easily on top of a hot layer of chocolate brownie shell and soup. I wished for more ice cream scoop in the middle of delving into this marvellous dessert!

The Ambiance:

This quiet fine dining ambiance under the copper roof is all suited for a romantic dinner. You’d feel the privacy with your date in this kind of restaurant.
The selection of wine impressed us!
I had a wonderful experience at The Fireplace with the man I love!
Thank you O for joyfully doing everything to make me smile and laugh. 🙂 Thank you for being my best friend! 🙂
