Given an hour of lunch break, I never thought of using that time to do my ‘food scouting’. In an hour, I have to drive my way to the restaurant and wait for the dishes to be served. It was too short to feel and enjoy the dishes of a restaurant I’ll be visiting. I didn’t think the possibility of injecting “The Food Scout” during my lunch break.
Few weeks ago, I received an invitation to visit Torch and try new dishes in line on the menu. Of course I was so thrilled for these kinds of invitation. However, I had to check the time and date to see if it matches my schedule. At a glance, I saw the number ‘12’, and already felt negative about it. The schedule was on a weekday, lunch time. I wanted to consider going for it but the time was hindering me to go. In all things I do, I try to think twice and ask guidance from the One above me. You might find it funny or weird but even at small things like this, I wanted to include God in my decisions and plans. I asked Him if it will be wise to go through with this food tasting event or not. From time to time, I thought about it until God gave me the wisdom to proceed only in one condition, I must leave by 1pm in order for me to arrive the office just on time. I praise God when He fixes my schedule and orchestrates things around me. Torch is not far away from my work place. In fact, if I use the car, it will take me less than 5 mins. The minimal problem I know I’d encounter is the fact I wouldn’t be able to try all the dishes. I could only taste the dishes served until 1pm, which is not a big problem for me. I still praise Him for allowing me to be invited to such events.
From L-R: Chili Cheese Crispers (Php 298.95)
Truffle Fries (Php 245.95)
Buffalo Asian Wings (Php 3254.95)
Tequila Lime Chicken Skewers (Php 174.95)
After few minutes of my arrival, the food was served. Hooray! 🙂 A triple sampler of appetizers excited me to grab a big bite.
My top 3 are the following :
1) Truffle Fries, which is not new to me, still enticed me with its truffle aroma. I am still captivated by its simple taste.

2) Buffalo Asian Wings defined the word appetizer as it simply drove me to wanting more of Torch dishes. The taste of sweetness and spiciness are packed in one piece of chicken meat.

3) Tequila Lime Chicken Skewers tricked me. I thought they were chicken meat in a stick. But maaan, they were deep-fried chicken skin, a sinful piece of stick. I’m not truly against it, only the fact that it will kill my health. Other than its sinful trait, I love that the tequila lime flavor gave the twist to this.
Volcano Roll (Php 269.95)

An explosion to the mouth with extraordinary flavors. A complete plate of ingredients I love. That composes of freshly baked sushi rolls filled with tempura, tamago and Japanese cucumber and lastly topped with spice-baked U.S. scallops. What a winner!!! 🙂
Smoked Salmon Truffle Sushi (Php 449.95)
Rate: 4/5
This is an innovation of Japanese sushi rolls. Judging from how it looks, I already know this will captivate my taste buds. Sushi with mango, cucumber, kani, wakame, salmon and truffle oil all over, all packed in one! Goodness gracious, if I live next to Torch, this will make me fatter. I am not sure if this is already on the menu since this is one of their newest addition to the menu.
White Truffle Sausage Panizza (Php 429.95)
Rate: 4/5
New on the menu! Another enticing dish because of the truffle oil that scented all over the place. I could sniff from a far the truffle aroma it gave. Sausage toppings on top of mozzarella cheese are fit for it. From Japanese to Italian, another favorite cuisine, this panizza lines up to my list of favorites.
Philly Cheesesteak Pizza (Php 369.95)

Still as good as how it tasted a year ago, when I last visited Torch.
Gambas Pizza (Php 329.95)
Rate: 5/5
I didn’t complain when I saw this pizza on the table again. It is one of my favorites at Torch. My love for gambas and pizza is combined in one. The barbecue shrimp, garlic and chili pepper combined is a cushion to my lunch. I heard this is part of Torch’s bestsellers. Not just to me, but to most of their customers. Try it and you might love it as well.
Salpicao Medallion (Php 479.95)
Rate: 4/5
Where is the fat? Oh, there it is, the sides wrapped in bacon! For the love of meat, this one is a memorable plate at Torch! The entire meat, not including the bacon, was purely soft and fatless. Sizzling hot and rich with flavors, the last dish I tried before the clock struck at 1.
Dragon Sangria (Php 899.95)
Rate: 4/5
Any drink with alcohol is not attractive to me. But for this case, I found their Dragon Sangria interesting to shoot (due to its sophisti-cute look) and drink. The alcohol mix was not strong, very light in fact. Probably that was because we were served Sangria for lunch? I don’t know but I surely loved it! For its price, I think it is reasonable to grab a bite at Torch followed by glasses of Sangria with your friends.
One glass of Sangria was enough for me since I had to head back to my workplace.
Strictly in just an hour„ my stomach was completely filled with Torch’s delightful new dishes. If I didn’t go, I’d be missing a lot. Not a single dish I regretted tasting at Torch.
For something new to try, I suggest you consider visiting Torch. I have no complaints when it comes to service, ambiance and price range (I believe it’s reasonable for its presentation, taste and quality). Go ahead and see for yourself. Let’s see what Torch experience you’ll have!
