What I love about where I work is the fact we have mandatory leaves. It is always the best time for me to travel, enjoy looong sleeps and certainly scout more restaurants. My mandatory leaves were scheduled last April, just in time for my mom’s birthday. Middle of the week after my Kuala Lumpur trip, I was scheduled to visit Bonfire, a newly opened restaurant at Greenhills Town Center. The location is exactly where Sumo Sam was placed before. Without any hesitations, the location was convenient and the schedule was perfect, I dined at Bonfire with Oliver, together with other foodie friends.
We were welcomed at Bonfire by choosing our preferred beverages. I didn’t choose anything special or unusual, simple fruit shake is good enough for me. As a matter of fact, water alone is the best drink I could partner with any dish. Often times, I like to experiment with different beverages to partner with my meals. Let’s just say, depends what the mood is.
The Shrimp, Mango & Alfalfa Salad (Php 185)
Rate: 3/5
Starting the dinner with a plate of salad sets the mood right. Shrimp, mango, crab stick and alfalfa all mixed up sounds good and tastes good as well. The ingredients are all safe for a plate of salad, nothing edgy and new. One plate could feed about 2 persons.
Bonfire Grilled Chicken Pizza (Php 295)

Compared to CPK’s bbq chicken pizza, I’d still hit the button for CPK. But that doesn’t mean I’m not cheering for Bonfire’s version. I love the sweet and smoked barbecue sauce lightly scattered on the thin-crusted pizza. The chicken barbecue chunks on top of mozzarella cheese absolutely got me wanting for more. For its price, a casual dining over sangria and pizza is not a splurge at all.
Peach, Bacon & Cheese Pizza (Php 320)
Rate: 4/5
Bonfire’s second pizza hit my appetite once again. I thought peach would ruin the slices and disrupt people’s love for bacon. It was a wrong judgment. My seat-mates thought it was a pretty good combination to put bacon and peach together. I discovered peaches are better than pineapples on your pizza plate.
Chicken Fingers (Php 225)

When oil swims inside my mouth, I already know when to stop munching and eating such fried food. Experienced it with these Chicken Fingers. I expected it to be crispy and juicy. Instead, I had more oil inside my mouth and didn’t taste the crisp at all. Soft and tender chicken fingers aren’t working for me. Not the kind of chicken fingers I imagine to munch.
All-in-One Pizza (Php 340)

I could say Bonfire knows their pizza. This particular flavor is really crammed with flavors that is pleasing to my taste-buds. From what you can see on the photo, pizza is loaded with red and green bell peppers, olives, pepperoni, mushroom, ham and oozing cheese. Confused on what to order? Just get it right by ordering All-in-One Pizza.
Baby Back Ribs (Php 385)
Rate: 4/5
A small slab of baby back ribs with sweet corn and chunky mashed potatoes on the sides. The hickory barbecue sauce got the ribs right, glazing it with appealing barbecue flavor. I suggest you complete your dinner at Bonfire with a wooden board of Baby Back Ribs.
Ribeye Steak (Php 365)
Rate: 2/5
A mediocre steak to satisfy your cravings after a busy day at work. It doesn’t need to be extra special but for an ordinary day, not any special occasion, this steak is good enough for the night.
Smores (Php 125)
Rate: 4/5
Before the dishes came out, I had my appetite ready for dessert. I borrowed the menu and Smores got my eyes on it. These roasted marshmallows with crunchy grahams magnetized me. I know it is feasible to make smores at home so it might not be a big deal for most of you. I just have to say Bonfire got it right for me. No time to prepare after a long day at work. So if I am talking about convenience here, I’ll head to Bonfire for this simply sinful dessert.
Chef Tristan Encarnacion, celebrity chef, was the man inside the kitchen who prepared the dishes for us. It was my first time to meet him in person. Normally, I only see his face on cooking shows, commercials and on other forms of media.
I noticed that there are more improvements they could do, concerning other dishes and the air-conditioning system inside the restaurant. I visited Bonfire when it was relatively new, so I am hoping Bonfire is working out things to improve the place.
Overall, Bonfire is a casual place where you could bring friends with glasses of sangria or bottles of beer beside your pizza plates. The place might work out for you. So… give it a try?
