After watching a fencing tournament in Lipa, Batangas, we drove towards a nearby Filipino restaurant called Hapag Filipino. According to sources, Batangenyos to be exact, Hapag Filipino is known as one of the oldest Filipino restaurants in the city. In the food industry, the fact that your business is surviving for years means that people are enticed by your products a.k.a. Food. I remember the saying “Customers are always right”. Well, it never fails to be applied in any restaurant. Without the customers, the business will flunk. So a friendly reminder for restaurant owners, treat your customers right if you want your business to grow and not fail. 🙂

Because of the bright and sunny (summer) weather, ordering a fresh and cold buko juice was just right to quench our thirst. Take note: If you’re hungry and your stomach is empty, it is not advisable to drink buko juice.

Inihaw na Pusit was my favorite dish that afternoon! It was really fresh and grilled evenly. I used their sauce (no picture unfortunately) for the Inihaw na Pusit, with a mix of soy sauce, vinegar, onions and other ingredients I’m not sure of. I actually remembered the Gerry’s Grill sauce when I tasted it.

The price of the Inihaw na Pusit depends on its size.
First time to taste Sizzling Gambas with French fries! Weiiird! haha! Normally, Gambas is simply served without the fries. In this case, there was! When it was served on our table and saw the fries, we hurried and removed those fries because it was already burning on the sizzling plate. So instead of ketchup for fries, Gambas sauce was used. haha!
The photos are not deceiving you. Those shrimps are quite big compared to other Sizzling Gambas you can get in restaurants.
Before leaving, they served us one of their delicacies, Yema with Macapuno. I absolutely loved it! First time to try something like that. If land in Lipa, Batangas and visit Hapag Filipino one of these days, you could pass by and get a bag of their yummy Yema! They have a small Pasalubong stall where you could buy all those sweet cravings you have.
Have you tried Hapag Filipino in Batangas?
