Picking a restaurant along the street of bars in Siem Reap challenged me as a food explorer. I had a limited number of days so I couldn’t afford to try every single restaurant on that Pub street. After doing my research, asking people who are more familiar with Cambodia and locals of the city, I chose to try The Red Piano.
Only the blind ones won’t notice this establishment at the corner of Pub Street. Outside the restaurant, you’ll be welcomed with a bunch of foreigners hanging out as if they’re out sunbathing. According to reviews, The Red Piano is one of Angelina Jolie’s favorite restaurants. While filming Tomb Raider, this place has become her hangout spot together with her crew and Brad Pitt. This was their second home during their long shoots at the temples of Siem Reap, Cambodia.

The Food:

Garlic Prawns ($3.50)
Rate: 4/5
The color is undeniably like shrimp gambas but more creamy and cheesy. It’s very good to pair the sauce with bread, even without the prawns. I don’t know if this is one of Angelina’s favorites but I care about this dish because this is now one of my personal favorites in Cambodia.
Red Piano Pizza ($8)
Rate: 5/5
The Red Piano brought out the goodness in one pizza flavor. Their specialty, Red Piano Pizza composed of bacon, fresh mushrooms, chicken and coconut cream, became a darling to my heart after a big bite. I totally love the complexity of flavors, including the coconut cream that made it creamier and distinct.
Red Piano’s dishes lessened the spices of Cambodian ingredients by capturing the taste of foreigners and taking their dishes to the international standard.

The Ambiance:

A relaxing place to drink your choice of cocktails.
If you want Angelina Jolie’s favorite, try the Tomb Raider Cocktail.

The vibe of being at the beach with the Boracay weather and the scenery of foreigners from where I was sitting, only there wasn’t any beach.

The Menu:

It’s not frightening to spend on good food at Siem Reap with their affordable dishes. Backpacker tourists find Cambodia an interesting country to visit since it doesn’t take away your budget instantly.
The weather was weird and bi-polar. On the way to The Red Piano, it was raining terribly hard. So I had to rush to the nearby office supplies store to ask for a raincoat. Surprisingly, they had one. As you can see from the photo above, the fashionable rain coat turned my summer floral dress to a plastic rainy dress. By the time I reached The Red Piano, rain stopped and there came out the bright yellow sun. That’s bi-polar!
Anyway. That was my Cambodian food trip at Angelina Jolie’s favorite restaurant in Cambodia. Reasonably priced restaurant in Cambodia that is located in a tourist friendly spot. If you get the chance to visit Siem Reap, you can add The Red Piano to your list of restaurants to conquer.
