Did you know that April 22 is Earth Day?
Last month, I celebrated Earth Day at Circles Makati Shangri-la Hotel together with some earth-loving foodie friends. From the lunch prepared by the hotel’s respectable chefs, I discovered that Earth Day is observed everyday at Shangrila’s kitchens.
In Shangri-la’s Rooted In Nature campaign, we came to understand that Shangri-la hotels value the source of their ingredients to come up with dishes that are worth the money, and yes, the calories too. Shangrila hotels’ produce and cuisine are all rooted in nature, featuring the finest locally and ethnically-sourced ingredients. Part of our lunch was to meet and greet local suppliers of the hotel. From local strawberries to a small family farm to a fishing village, Shangri-la hotels celebrate Filipino suppliers that make dining not only sustainable but also delicious.

The Suppliers:

Gourmet Farms
Gourmet Farms produce organic vegetables, herbs and coffee from Tagaytay.
Fisherfarms Inc., one of the largest milkfish suppliers in the country, showcased their Rellenong Bangus and other fish variants from Pangasinan.
Artesmar Yellowfin Tuna
Displayed Artesmar yellowfin tuna near the entrance of Circles reminded me to go back to my tuna diet again. It was a fantastic sight to look at, the gigantic tuna from Meliomar.
Bell Peppers from Green Produce Farm
For a second, I thought these plump red, yellow and green bell peppers were imported. From where I stood, I was corrected and was told by Green Produce Farm that these produce are from Bukidnon. Wow!
Also from Green Produce Farm, giant and cheeky organic tomatoes were stars at the lunch event. I wish our kitchen has these blushing tomatoes all the time!
L.E.A.’S Baguio Vegetable Dealer also supplies organic vegetables that comes straight from the cold weather of Baguio.
Theo & Philo’s chocolates will remain on top of my favorite local chocolates. Perky flavors from their line of products elevates the game of pinoy chocolates.
The Fruit Garden jams
The Fruit Garden, my top of mind local jams, was present to show their new luxurious hibiscus line.
These are just some of Shangri-la hotels’ prestigious local suppliers. Knowing my favorite hotel is very meticulous with their suppliers adds comfort each time I dine in any of their restaurants.
Have you encountered any of Shangri-la Hotels’ suppliers?

Share with me your thoughts! 🙂
