With the current calamity happening in the Philippines, spending money on ‘not so’ important things is quite apathetic. As a Filipino, even though Yolanda didn’t hit your home or you didn’t even feel a single bit of that harsh typhoon, we are to be sensitive on what is happening to the world around us.
A few days ago, O and I celebrated our Nth month together. Do I need to mention the month? Nahh… leave it that as ‘Nth’. Haha! For us, celebrating an occasion is really not about going out and being extravagant. Yes, it’s not an ordinary day but that occasion is made special by simply being together, eating good food and talking about whatever pops in our minds. It doesn’t need to be costing an arm and a leg. Our partnership could make our day fun and interesting in multitude ways. So, what did we do for our recent ‘Nth’ month together? Well… O and I decided to cook together for our date night! 🙂
Our minds met and finalized that we will be having a special Katsu night. But before cooking, preparation is counted as one major factor.
First, we headed to the SM Hypermarket to purchase the ingredients we need. After grabbing a push cart, we went straight to the frozen meat station and look for Bounty Fresh Top Torikatsu. O and I are not experts in cooking. This is not our forte. But we are eager to learn and master this skill. Hehe. For now, we will be needing the help of Bounty Fresh products for our planned dishes.
It wasn’t troubling to spot Bounty Fresh products at SM Hypermarket. I love that they got the two flavors I’ll be needing, Classic and Cheese & Chives.
One pack of Bounty Fresh Top Torikatsu consists of 6 pieces of medium sized chicken breast fillets. For 450 grams, you are paying reasonably for quality and quantity.
Why we choose Bounty Fresh Top Torikatsu?
We decide to choose the best.
Bounty Fresh is the first Philippine company to win the Best Poultry and Livestock Company Award at the 2009 Asian Livestock Industry Awards. This brand continues to provide delicious and top-quality chicken products, making it deserve its tag as being“Asia’s Best.” With its newest product Top Torikatsu, I trust that my daily meals continues to be stress-free.
Top Torikatsu is made from  the  choicest,  100%  chicken  breasts  and  is  coated  with  crispy bread crumbs for that extra crunch and texture. It’s the exactly the product we need for our ‘date night’.

Cooking Time:

Once you buy a pack of any Top Torikatsu variant, you will see a written instruction at the back of the package.
Step 1 is to get your medium-sized non stick frying pan and pour a cup of oil. Cooking temperature should be in medium heat, around 170-180 degrees Celsius. Any amount that will deep fry your Torikatsu. I’m not the cooking expert so the amount of oil is up to you, depends on the size of your pan. By the way, I suggest you use a non stick pan to achieve that perfect Top Torikatsu.
Step 2 is to gently place the meat on the pan. I’m serious of the word ‘gently’. The crumbs might fa;; off because of its thin layering on the chicken breast meat. Make sure you gently turn your Top Torikatsu upside down once it looks golden brown. 2-3 minutes of frying is actually enough.
Step 3 is to serve and of course, eat!
What’s good about this product is that you don’t have to be a chef to get that tasty katsu fix you need.
In a quickie, your Top Torikatsu is finished!
O and I wanted our ‘date night’ to look gourmet and European at the same time. So if you place a timer beside us, you’ll notice that serving took longer than cooking. We brought out our hidden artistic skills to we plate our Gourmet Top Torikatsu. O and I had series of discussions on how to properly plate our Top Torikatsu. It was actually one fun activity for us, to not just cook but to plate.
I’m not gonna prolong this anymore. Presenting to you our Gourmet Top Torikatsu….
*drum roll* please!

The Gourmet Food:

This is our Classic Top Torikatsu.
Chicken breast meat of this variant is topped with mayonnaise and coated in golden crispy katsu crumbs.
Adding thinly sliced cabbages beside Classic Top Torikatsu reminds me of eating in Japanese katsu houses here in Manila. Tomatoes, an ingredient we love adding in our meals, partners well with our meat and cabbage.
This is Top Torikatsu’s Cheese & Chives.
How about some grapes and cheese? Oh, and some red wine as our pair?
Very gourmet yet still on a budget.
Chicken breast topped with cheese & chives sauce fits impeccable to my taste-buds. With less than 5 minutes of cooking, Top Torikatsu achieved the taste we were both expecting. There goes the crisp and juicy taste of its meat. Breast part is my favorite part of the chicken. Hence, I have no complaints to Bounty Fresh for choosing this white meat.
We don’t have any favorites. Both flavors are dear to us!
Don’t think we spent thousands and thousands on this dinner. As I mentioned earlier, we are both sensitive about our expenditures.
This date night is proof that putting fun and class together don’t need to cost heavily on your pockets.
O took a photo of this plate without telling me. He added that cheesy and mushy note beside my plate. Idiomatic and Literally cheesy! Haha!
Someone looks downhearted without his date. Hehe.
Tah-dah! Both dressed up just like our Top Torikatsu gourmet plates. 🙂
What do you think?
You don’t need to dine out and spend too much for your date night to look gourmet and classy.
Top Torikatsu is one promising product for people on-the-go, always in a hurry, moms preparing for their children’s lunchbox or for people like us who desires a date night but with a limited budget.
