Don’t let the name deceive you…
Because, I was.

For the longest time I’ve been strolling along the high streets of Fort, I thought The Cake Club by Diamond Hotel was purely a dessert hub. The big sign made a strong name recall as a venue for desserts. I wouldn’t have known how much I am missing out if I didn’t free up one Saturday morning and have my brunch there.
I was one of the fortunate people who had the chance to taste all brunch dishes being served at The Cake Club. Since it was my breakfast/lunch a.k.a. brunch, there was no guilt on treating my stomach for a gastronomic experience.
Presenting to you, The Weekend Brunch Selection by The Cake Club by Diamond Hotel
Whole Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes (Php 295)
Rate: 4/5

Starting the day with pancakes never fail my day. It’s such a good morning treat to the eyes and taste-buds. The blend of blueberry, banana and buttermilk pancakes tickled my taste-buds. It made me want to have this every morning before I run to the work place. A simple starter yet satisfying for me.

Truffle Fries (Php 180)
Rate: 4/5

The aroma of truffle is undeniably sensual. I knew from the minute I sat down that there’s something “truffly” on the table. When the group offered the fries to me, I reacted and said, “I knew it!”. The smell of truffle is just so good that you can’t say No when someone offers you a pile of these Truffle Fries.

Homemade Corned Beef Stuffed Blinis (Php 325)
Rate: 4/5

One of the breakfast meals I also want to take home with me. I wish I brought our maid and make her taste these Homemade Corned Beef Stuffed Blinis. I think she would get it right once she tastes it. The taste is not complicated to enjoy. Scrambled eggs were cooked the way I wanted it to be, not that wet and not too dry.

Stuffed French Toast (Php 295)
Rate: 3/5

Composed of brioche bread, cream cheese, fresh strawberries and wild berry mascarpone sauce. A fruity selection apt for those who prefer berries stuffed on their toasts. I wasn’t in the mood for this kind of brunch that’s why I didn’t buy the idea of eating more than a bite during that time.

Bircher Muesli (Php 265)
Rate: 4/5

The old-fashioned oats took me to a hearty treat, which I really loved. The bowl of Muesli, which is composed of assorted dry fruits, fresh green apple, and shredded coconut soaked in yogurt and milk, gave a good reason for me to have my breakfast once again at The Cake Club

Mediterranean Eggs (Php 355)
Rate: 4/5

Those aren’t longganisa guys. Those are actually lamb sausages with vine ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, feta cheese and rockets salad. One smack was full of spices and spiciness. Eating it with vine ripe tomatoes was the proper way to eliminate too much spiciness on your tongue.

Smoked Salmon Benedict (Php 345)
Rate: 5/5

Oh the money shot for this Smoked Salmon Benedict is wanting me to catch those melted cheese on my mouth. Whole wheat and quinoa pancakes, asparagus cooked in olive oil and hollandaise sauce. Doesn’t it look so neat?

Cut through and you’ll get a better money shot of the photo above. A winner brunch if I were to choose. No need to stuff myself with too much carbs and load with rice. This simple Smoked Salmon Benedict is the way to go!
Pan Fried Foie Gras (Php 365)
Rate: 4/5
How about a simple fattening dish like this? Having this pan fried Foie Gras (duck/goose liver) cooked in truffle oil makes it special and pricey. I controlled myself from eating more than half since I know how fatty this fat liver can be.
Foie Gras is not a common ingredient used here in the country. The process of making Foie Gras is just so complicated. From the feeding of the duck, fattening its liver, to the time it reaches the kitchen as a French delicacy. The preparation and process make this delicacy expensive.
Foie Gras Macaron (Php 150)
Rate: 5/5
This is a must-try! The rich taste of Foie Gras turned into a dessert, specially made by Chef Nick Stoyanov for The Cake Club. See and try it for yourself. 😉
Given the chance to have brunch, I’ll surely hit Fort area and have my brunch at The Cake Club
Pray, Eat and Love.
