Tokyo Tokyo was never a strange brand to me. It was the top of mind Japanese restaurant our family had every time dad craves for rice and Beef Misono. He is the only one who can finish more than 3 cups of rice. Back then, we weren’t aware of other fast food chains would have the “rice all you can” feature, only Tokyo Tokyo. Thus, we choose Tokyo Tokyo for budget-friendly Japanese meals.
The first Bloggers Event hosted by Tokyo Tokyo was held in my favorite Tokyo Tokyo branch, in Shangri-la mall. During the first part of the event, we were all asked to watch one of their chefs make California Maki. From the viewers’ point of view, making sushi looked effortless. I was confident that I can make my own, except for slicing since I don’t like holding big and sharp knives.
I was one of the lucky bloggers who had the chance to make sushi! 🙂 Sleeves up and here we go!
As I mentioned earlier, making sushi looked so easy. I realized that in reality, it is NOT! You need to exert effort! Especially if it is your first time, like me. Rolling was one of the most challenging part for me. You need to be careful, gentle and focused. Or else, your California Maki will look like crap.
Slicing part! (Hate this kind of knife!) I wanted to challenge myself so I carefully followed the instructions on how to slice the California Maki roll. Slicing is not as simple as you think. You have to slice them equally. This requires being obsessive compulsive or OC.
Being focused on gently slicing these rolls. Game face on! (feel na feel! haha!)
Happy sushi girl! Unforgettable experience, indeed! If only I can display my California Maki at home. Hahaha! <3
Other bloggers had their chance to make their own sushi. 🙂
Hello to my friend, Richard Co of Tales from the Tummy! 🙂 Go Richard!
After our sushi making session, we were asked to fasten our seat-belts because the new products of Tokyo Tokyo will be served on our tables.
Here they are… New Japanese burgers from Tokyo Tokyo.

You can now enjoy not only Japanese rice meals and sushi but also snacks like these burgers. This burger is called Shogun Burger. Shogun, which means commander-in-chief, takes the lead in your stomach as it satisfies you with crispy onion rings, cheese, premium beef patty and Tonkatsu sauce.
Shitake Mushroom Burger is for those who prefers Teriyaki over Tonkatsu. The combination of shitake mushrooms, lettuce, premium beef patty plus teriyaki sauce seemed to be more appealing for me.
Now you can also get your double cheeseburger in Tokyo Tokyo. Men with bigger appetite can consume two premium beef patties in Godzilla Burger. What sets Tokyo Tokyo’s Godzilla burger different is the Japanese Mayo used. Don’t you just want to take a big bite on that good looking burger? 🙂
Speaking of good looking, I met Daniel Matsunaga, endorser of Tokyo Tokyo, that night.
He was fooled by my polaroid camera-like iPhone case.
Nicole’s turn to have a photo with Daniel.
Thank you Nicole and Jheck for joining me!
Harajuku style to sport a Japanese look.
No excuse not to try these affordable premium burgers. Go on and head to the nearest Tokyo Tokyo branch to try for yourself!
*Special thanks to Tokyo Tokyo and Ogilvy for inviting me! 🙂
