Away from the city, yet still by the seaside, our Guam barkada took a long ride to Talofofo to spend our lunch at the island’s famous Jeff’s Pirates Cove.
Entering the cove was like in a pirate’s lair, where details of the bar were decorated with classic pirate skull images. We were seated at the far side of the cove, near the beach. Add in the sunny and windy weather, it is an ideal spot to take photos and relax.
I was unfamiliar with what to order at first so I had to seek counsel from our friends from GVB (Guam Visitors Bureau). The unanimous vote of our GVB friends lead us to Jeff’s Pirates Cove chicken wings. Everyone agreed the chicken wings are a must-try for foreigners. You know me, chicken wings feels right any time of the day. How can I resist? :p Other than the wings, the burgers and sandwiches were also suggested.

The Food:

Jeff’s Famous Homemade 1/2lb. Cheeseburger (USD 15.50)
Rate: 4/5
Hailed as one of Guam’s best burger, Jeff’s Famous Homemade 1/2 lb. Cheeseburger managed to please our palates while overlooking the ocean view. The 1/2 lb. of lean ground beef burger patty, armed with cheddar cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles, will keep your mouths shut from talking as you take each bite seriously.
Chicken Wings (USD 12 / 20)
Rate: 5/5
The safest order, for the picky and not-so picky visitors. Presenting, the popular kid in the cove, Jeff’s Pirates Cove classic Chicken Wings. Between spicy or not spicy, I prefer the spicy version for a cheery adventure as my mouth water. Chicken Wings are deep fried, resulting to crunchy edges outside its juicy meat. It comes with a tasty ranch dip, but I prefer not adding any sauce.
All American Beef Hot Doggie (USD 9)
Rate: 3/5
1/4 lb. All American Beef Hot Doggie on a bun served with relish and potato wedges. I chose the spicy version, thinking I’ll be tasting an inimitable style of hotdog. There was no element in its flavors that made it stand out.
American Beers (USD 4)
To chum up with the food at Jeff’s Pirates Cove, a bottle of Guam beer is recommended.

The Ambiance:

As a foreigner in Guam, anything “different” and unusual grabs my attention. The casual ambiance itself, a pirate-themed restaurant situated by the sea, imagining I was gonna meet Captain Jack Sparrow, deepens my attachment to the place.
Sports fanatics don’t have to worry about catching the games. Exactly during the time we visited, it was the hour of NBA Finals, where most of us were rooting for Golden State Warriors. After our plates were empty, some of us proceeded to the bar to get closer to the television and watch the NBA game live.
You can turn your penny and a quarter into a souvenir penny with Jeff’s Pirates Cove design.
Quiet and relaxing atmosphere outside by the beachfront, one of the factors Jeff’s Pirates Cove is a favorite in Guam.
