If there is a loyalty card in Figaro, high chances are, I have one. The points I’d earn from my regular visits could already pay about 20 cups of coffee. Haha! Even without the card, I still love hanging out in Figaro with my pink laptop. Chill environment, free wifi, tasty food and a good cup of joe, what more could I ask for?
Since 1993, Figaro Coffee Company has been delivering irresistible and aromatic freshly roasted coffee. Cooked in their very own roasters and watched over by roasting experts to ensure each bean results to perfection. I bet we all know how we can rely on Figaro for our vitamin C (Coffee). But not everyone think of Figaro as a place to dine in. Recently, I turned the menu page to the savory list and sought for what I could eat for lunch.

The Food:

P199 Meals

Chicken BBQ Skewers (Php 199)
Rate: 5/5
My newest top pick in Figaro, Chicken BBQ Skewers. A jungle of strong sweet and chili spices brushed unto the grilled chicken meat. All tender and not fatty at all. Taste with atsara (pickled unripe papaya), java rice, a little damp of its bbq sauce, your lunch is solved. You might end up saying, “extra rice please?”
Crispy Glazed Chicken (Php 199)
Rate: 4/5
Crispy Glazed Chicken, a modified version of the earlier chicken skewer, only it’s in a form of crispy chicken chunks. Also glazed with Figaro’s chili-sweet bbq sauce, served with atsara and java rice.
Both chicken meals are served with a glass of Lemonade, without extra charges.

The Regulars

Ham and Cheese Bakes (Php 139)
Rate: 4/5
4 pieces of toast faced up with oozing cheese on top and chunks of ham infused. I usually order Ham and Cheese Bakes for ‘merienda’ side by side with my Cappuccino.
Chef’s Salad (Php 159)
Rate: 4/5
Somewhere in your meat loving appetite, you’d manage to take pleasure in green dishes. Chef’s Salad, loaded with chicken meat, tomatoes, cucumber, onions, olives and ham and egg, feeds you your greens without a trace of disgust in eating veggies. And hey, healthy eating is in, so join in!
Cafe Mocha (Php 110)
Rate: 5/5
Recalling the first time I stayed inside a Figaro branch while waiting for the driver, I ordered Cafe Mocha, afraid of getting stung by the bitter taste of coffee. Haha! I wasn’t a coffee lover yet. Now, I still admire how subtle Figaro makes their Cafe Mocha, leaving sweet notes as you get to reach the bottom.
Choco Chips Java (Php 135)
Rate: 4/5
My sister Reine spent her afternoon with me while Choco Chips Java on her right hand. When I glance at her, it looked like the straw was glued to her lips, not leaving the frappe out of her sight. Haha!
Fiesta Cake
Rate: 3/5
In general, I wasn’t impressed with the desserts, which includes this Fiesta Cake – a Filipino inspired holiday cake with ube and pandan flavors. Yes it’s a fun, fluffy and light cake but unfortunately bathed to dryness.
Chocolate Eclair
Rate: 4/5
Out of the desserts I’ve tried, I’d still go back for Figaro’s Carrot Cake and this Chocolate Eclair. Overly chocolate coated Choux pastries pressing together chocolate cream in between.
Oreo Cheesecake Cookie (Php 62)
Rate: 3/5
Soft and chewy cookie texture, check. Consistent amount of Oreo crumbs and chunks, check. Cheesecake flavor, half check mark, if there’s such a thing. Oreo Cheesecake Cookie lacked the creamy cheese flavor, my tastebuds are waiting to catch.

The Ambiance:

As we stayed by the couch side of Tomas Morato branch, we hardly heard and noticed the heavy rain pours from outside. Rain or shine, the bright homey ambiance remains the same. There was no eyesore from the classic wooden brown European interiors. Far different from new and trendy minimalist coffee shops nowadays.
In numbers, Figaro has more than 30 branches scattered in Metro Manila.
For business meetings over coffee, you could close the deal in Figaro.
